Cat Extravaganza!

As you probably know already, assuming the amount I talk about them, I have two cats named Phoenix and River. Today I will be telling you the story of how I met my insane cats. It all started when we got our calico River (the black cat with orange and yellow spots) from a person we know who found her in an abandoned house by herself being a very young kitten. We adopted her and she turned out to be the cutest creature ever imaginable! She would run around, play with us, chase her tail, pant like a dog, cuddle with us and scare herself when walking by a mirror. But she could also be a fierce little tiger! I used to be scared to get out of bed because I knew she would jump and attack my feet! But she was still perfect!

My mother and I noticed that when we weren’t home she would be very lonely and didn’t do much. Every time we would come she would explode with happiness so much that she would occasionally pee herself. We were debating on whether or not we should adopt another cat so River would not be so lonely. We later decided that we would not adopt another cat because it was already hard as it is taking care of one cat.

Later on that week we went to the pet store to get a cat carrier for River, that’s when we saw a little skinny black kitten staring at us with her big, round green eyes. We immediately asked to see and meet the kitten. We found out that the animal rescue society found many homeless kittens in an abandoned barn and now they were available for adoption. We weren’t actually very serious about adopting the cat until my mother asked what that cats name was and the worker said it was Phoenix. A Phoenix is my mother’s favorite fictional animal. I met my mom’s eyes and we both new that Phoenix the black tuxedo (the black cat with a bit of white) belonged with us. Not only did we walk out of the pet store with a carrier, but with a cat inside that carrier.

Now bringing Phoenix home is a whole different story. As soon as River saw phoenix, it was hate at first sight. River was hissing and growling while Phoenix didn’t even pay attention and continued exploring her new home. Phoenix was very chill, quiet and loved to sleep a bit too much. We started noticing that she was very weak, skinny and didn’t do much. She seemed like she didn’t care about anything. Even when River would hiss and growl at her, she seemed to not notice at all. We thought she was acting a bit strange so we took her to the vet. Turned out she had a high fever and an eye infection.

For the rest of the month we had to keep Phoenix away from River to not get her sick. We kept Phoenix locked up in my mother’s bedroom. She was on antibiotics for the rest of the month. This is when River began to feel lonely again. She spent so much time hissing and growling at Phoenix that she forgot how lonely she used to be. River than began scratching at my mothers bedroom door talking to Phoenix. I think that’s when River and Phoenix got to know each other better by talking through the door in meows.

After that Phoenix was trying to escape from that bedroom every chance she got. She would be waiting right outside the door so when me and my mother would open just a little crack she would thrust with all her might and

make a run for it. We would run after her trying to catch her. During that time phoenix was healing well and eventually was a perfectly healthy cat. We finally let her out of that room and not only was Phoenix happy but River was exploding with happiness to see Phoenix after three long weeks. Since then River and Phoenix love each other and will always be best friends.
