Minecraft: Life in Pixels
Introduction
Technology is a big impact of our lives. It makes things much easier than before and is way more accessible. But, some people decided to make technology more fun and exciting, which is a good thing. That is what we call now, video games. We first start from simple games like Pong, Pacman, Tetris, etc...Of course, that isn’t enough for us humans. We make our games to its maximum so that it is exciting, very fun and very cool to play such as Clash of Clans, Counter Strike, 3D Mario and many more. But if you want a game that is relaxing, has no certain goal, creative and doesn't stress you out if you die, Minecraft is certainly your best choice.
What is Minecraft?
For a simple start, Minecraft is a sandbox game that is globally popular. Markus Persson (also known as Notch) the creator of Minecraft and the Minecraft Company (Mojang) officially released the alpha version in May 17, 2009. This famous PC game is so significant; the company itself is worth 2.5 billion dollars. Let’s talk about why this is amazing, shall we? If you are a beginner, Minecraft is the kind of game for you to see life and the aspects of survival if you happen to spawn in the woods empty-handed. People use this game either to go in to Survival Mode and build a house, mine some ore, and get some pets, or they could go into Creative Mode which is a mode that you’ll have infinite blocks & items and immunity. For me, some creations I made are giant cities with tall skyscrapers, large hotels, secret chambers and the Parthenon from Greece. Although the game does have some fantasy as you would imagine (zombies, live skeletons, exploding creepers, evil-eyed enderman, potion throwing witches, and a lot more), it’s still pretty realistic.
Cool Features
First of all, Minecraft is huge. With a whopping 651 blocks and items in version 1.8.0 (latest version 1.9.4), it’ll take forever to list all the features. So, here are some important ones. SURVIVAL, if you want to survive, these things are essential to staying alive. Wood, you can’t do anything without wood except building dirt houses and punching stone. All good things come from wood. Let’s say you want to make a diamond sword, to make that you’ll need sticks, and to make that you’ll need wood! Swords, if you do not have a decent weapon, there is no chance you can fight of a swarm of mobs and still live. Swords also kill animals faster so you can get food faster. Food, in case you’re hungry and could not you can’t regenerate health.
Next is REDSTONE. This is a made up ore that replaces what we have now, electric wires. With this substance, you can build literally every contraption made in the world, no joke. Check out this creators creations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qt1fOED0vC8.
TECHNOLOGY, when I say this I don't mean computers, I mean some cool items in the game. Juke boxes & note blocks, minecarts & rails and command blocks (set commands like /kill to kill yourself).
ENCHANTMENTS & BREWING, this is my favourite feature. Let’s say you have a diamond sword and you want to make it deal more damage. Well just simply go to an enchantment table and enchant the sword with Sharpness I. If you want people to be on fire after you hit them, enchant with Fire Aspect I. There are a lot of enchantments in Minecraft so I won’t have enough time to talk about it. Brewing is basically brewing potions either to buff yourself or weaken others. Some helpful potions are Potion of Regeneration, Potion of Invisibility, Potion of Strength and Potion of Healing. Some potions for your foes are Potion of Poison, Potion of Slowness and Potion of Harming.
FARMING, if you enjoy sitting by the lake and watching your plants grow. Some crops include bread, carrots, potatoes, beets, melons, pumpkins and cocoa beans.
Unofficial Add-Ons to Minecraft
The game is good enough for us, but not for everyone. People think this is too fun they wanted to make it even more addicting by adding plug-ins and mods. Plug-ins are like adding extra commands the game doesn’t have for instance world edit, which is a tool used to build gigantic buildings. Mods are packs of new items and blocks added into the game to make it more realistic or more fantasy like. Some are: Rocket ship Mod, iPhone Mod, Security Mod and Godzilla Mod. People also created servers, where you could play tons of mini games. Factions and CTF are some of them, but you could literally copy any game in the world on Vanilla (Vanilla means un-modded) Minecraft. It’s so amazing, right? If you do happen to have Minecraft while reading this, here is a very big mini game server:
Minecraft is more fun the more it’s updated. Stay tuned for awesome features and give some ideas for Minecraft!
