Haiku Stairs:

Haiku stairs or also known as stairway to heaven is a steep hiking trail on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The trail was originally used to transmit radio signals to the navy ships that were operating throughout the pacific. It was a popular hiking trail in the 1980s, operated by the coastguard but until in 1987 they decided the trail was too dangerous for the public. Though the hike is now illegal, tourists and some local still attempt to do the hike. A powerful storm hit Oahu last year and damaged the stairway. Until today people are strictly prohibited to hike.

The Blue Lagoon:

The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa and man-made located in Iceland. It is one of the most visited attractions in Iceland; the spa is located in a lava field in Grindavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula in southern Iceland. The warm waters are in rich minerals like silica and sulfur, bathing in the Blue Lagoon is supposed to help people with skin diseases like Psoriasis.

Wisteria Flower Tunnel:

The Wisteria Flower tunnel is located in the city of Kitakyushu, Japan and was established in 1997. The Kawachi Fuji Garden is home to an incredible 150 Wisteria plants with a variety of 20 different species. The garden’s main attraction is the Wisteria tunnels that allow visitors to walk down an enchanting tunnel exploding with color. There are 2 kinds of tunnels, one is 80m long [263ft] the other is 220m long [722ft]. Wisteria is a is a genus of flowering plants in the pea family, that includes ten species of woody climbing vines native to the Eastern United States, China, Korea and Japan.

Blue Grotto:

The Blue Grotto is a sea cave on the coast of the island of Capri, southern Italy. Sunlight passing through the underwater cavity shines throughout the seawater, which creates a blue reflection on the water, the cave is 60 meters long, 25 meters wide and approximately 150 meters deep. During Roman times the cave was used as the personal swimming hole of Emperor Tiberius as well as a marine temple.

Sloths:

Sloths are medium sized mammals; they belong to the families of the Megalonychidae [two-toed sloths] and the Bradypodidae [three-toed sloths]. Sloths are folivores they eat buds and leaves, two-toed sloths eat insects. There 6 different species of sloths the Pygmy three-toed, Maned, Pale –throated, Brown-throated, Linnaeus’s two-toed and Hoffman’s two-toed. Sloths live in Central and in Southern America; they prefer sleeping while curled up into a ball on a branch of a tropical tree. Sloths usually sleep from 15-20 hours a day, after hours of sleep they usually still don’t attempt at getting friendly with others; Sloths have solo lives. The scientific name Bradypus is Greek for “slow feet”, which makes sense since it is the world’s slowest animal; Sloths can climb only 6 to 8 feet per minute. Sloths are great swimmers, like humans they can do breaststroke with ease. To get to rivers sloths for a swim, sloths will drop themselves from branches into the water. Their claws are used for protecting them from predators but they hardly ever get noticed because they camouflage to the trees.
